It’s been a while since I’ve written and today I have a little something to share…
I have learned new things about losing weight, eating differently and about myself as I progress in my endeavor to lose weight and become healthy. Something that I have come to recognize is that accountability is key! I have learned that I trust myself too much and as much as I think “I love me,” I have let myself down.
I believe there is wisdom in asking people to hold you to a standard you desire to hold for yourself, but aren’t strong enough to do it alone! This goes for anything!
If you are a liar- let loved ones confront you
If you struggle with pride- let loved ones tell you when pride lurks
If you have a bitter heart- let loved ones speak into that
If you are overweight- let loved ones help you lose the weight
Currently, I have two group texts: one group for workouts and another group text for eating well. When I don’t want to work out I text my girls all the lazy thoughts and they help me “Lace up.” When all I want is that doughnut and to get off my eating plan my other girls help me stay focused and remind me why I’m losing weight and how that doughnut will make me feel later. Is this crazy? Maybe! Is it necessary? YES! Is it wise? ABSOLUTELY! Why? Because my LOVED ONES are helping me become a better me! That’s the beauty in this journey.
I am learning I have trusted myself way too much and I gave myself too much credit; one doughnut turned into three and one serving became two. I have learned that just because I can eat whatever I want doesn’t mean I should! And to be honest, right now I am not strong enough to eat ice cream and bread, so I had to cut it out. I have had to learn how I work best and what I need to sacrifice to be a better healthier me and that has all come with accountability.
I am not done and I have a long way to go but I know I am not alone. I want to challenge you to invite those you love into your heart of hearts and ask them to go on this journey with you. You may cry, you may not like what they have to say but trust that their holding you to the standard you desire to hold for yourself and in the end you win and because they love you, they do too!
(Thank you ladies…you know who you are!)
Be encouraged today…We can do this…The best is yet to come!
